Abbey Theatre

The Abbey Theatre is Ireland’s national theatre, based on Abbey Street in the north city centre of Dublin, County Dublin. Founded in the early twentieth century with W. B. Yeats and Lady Gregory among its driving forces, it has been central to Irish drama ever since.

The theatre stages a programme of new Irish writing alongside revivals of classic plays, with performances running across its stages through the year. It sits within walking distance of O’Connell Street and the Liffey quays, so it is easily reached on foot or by public transport.
