An Fód Dubh (Blacksod Harbour)

An Fód Dubh, or Blacksod Harbour, is at the southern tip of the Mullet Peninsula in County Mayo, facing Blacksod Bay and the Atlantic beyond. The harbour is a working embarkation point, used by local boats and by services connecting the mainland with the offshore islands.

The setting is stark and memorable, with the sea on several sides and long views towards Achill and the open ocean. It is a good place to watch boats working, take photographs, or simply experience the far western edge of Mayo.
