Profile
Árainn Mhór, or Arranmore, is the largest inhabited island off the County Donegal coast, reached by ferry from Burtonport. It is an Irish-speaking island with a resident community, a working harbour and a landscape of cliffs, lakes and open moorland.
Visitors come for walking, sea and lake angling, boat trips and the quiet of an island where the pace is set by the ferry timetable. Coastal paths lead to high cliffs and views back to the mainland and out across the Atlantic, and there are pubs and places to stay on the island.
