Profile
Aras an Uachtarain is the official residence of the President of Ireland, set within the Phoenix Park in Dublin. The white, porticoed house began life in the eighteenth century as a residence for the park ranger and later served as the viceregal lodge before becoming the President’s home after independence.
Guided tours of the house and its formal gardens are offered on certain days, free of charge and subject to booking and security arrangements. The surrounding parkland, with its wide avenues and resident fallow deer, is one of the largest enclosed city parks in Europe.
