Profile
Banna Strand is a long sweep of sand and dunes on the north Kerry coast, facing the Atlantic near Ardfert and within easy reach of Tralee. Its wide flat beach and marram-covered dune system make it one of the finest strands in the county for walking, swimming and birdwatching.
The beach also carries a place in Irish history: it was here in April 1916 that Roger Casement came ashore from a German submarine ahead of the Easter Rising, and a memorial stands nearby marking the event.
