Profile
Bertra Beach lies at Murrisk in County Mayo, a long sand spit reaching into Clew Bay beneath the slopes of Croagh Patrick. The combination of mountain, bay and island-studded water makes it one of the most recognisable stretches of shore in the west.
It is a favourite for swimming, walking, kitesurfing and birdwatching, with shallow water on the sheltered side and open Atlantic conditions further out. Parking is close to the sand, and the beach pairs naturally with a visit to Croagh Patrick or the road on to Louisburgh.
