Burren Fiddle Holidays

Burren Fiddle Holidays offers traditional Irish fiddle tuition in Corofin, County Clare, set within the Burren region between the Burren National Park and the county town of Ennis. Lessons take place in the welcoming atmosphere of a traditional farmhouse kitchen, and the courses are designed to suit everyone from complete beginners picking up a fiddle for the first time to advanced players looking to develop their playing. Full-size fiddles can be borrowed, so visitors are not required to bring their own instrument.

The business was established in 2016 by Laura Ugur, a fiddle player who grew up in west Cork and holds a first-class honours degree in Irish Music and Dance from the University of Limerick, where she studied under Eileen O’Brien and Siobhán Peoples. She began learning the instrument at the age of nine and has performed widely within the traditional music community.

Several formats are available, including day courses, weekend stays and a longer immersive Fiddle Week, as well as online lessons for those learning from home. The programme balances instruction with time to explore the surrounding countryside, towns and villages, and evenings are often spent in the company of experienced traditional musicians. Accommodation can be arranged on request.

The nearest airport is Shannon, roughly a forty-minute drive away. As the venue sits in the countryside, hiring a car is recommended for getting there and for exploring the wider area.
