Carey's Castle

Carey’s Castle is a ruined castellated house hidden in woodland in the Glenary valley outside Clonmel, County Tipperary, on the northern slopes of the Comeragh Mountains. Reaching it involves a forest walk along a stream, with the ivy-covered ruin appearing among the trees.

The combination of woodland, river and ruin makes it popular with walkers and photographers, and the forest supports plenty of birdlife. The path can be muddy and uneven, so walking boots are advisable and care should be taken around the ruined structure itself, which is unmanaged and open to the elements.
