Profile
Carrownisky Strand is a long Atlantic beach in County Mayo, on the coast west of Louisburgh, with wide sand and consistent surf rolling in off the open ocean.
It is best known as a surfing beach, and also draws walkers, horse riders and anyone wanting space away from crowds. The setting is dramatic and unsheltered, with mountain and island views, so conditions can change quickly — check the forecast, respect rip currents and take local advice before going in. It sits handily on the route between Louisburgh and Killadoon.
