Profile
Cathair Chonroí, or Caherconree, is an ancient stone promontory fort high on the Slieve Mish mountains above Camp, County Kerry, at the eastern end of the Dingle Peninsula. Its massive dry-stone wall cuts across a rocky spur, and the site is bound up with the legends of early Irish tradition.
Reaching it involves a steep upland walk rather than a stroll, and the reward is a commanding outlook over Tralee Bay, Dingle Bay and the mountains between. Go equipped for mountain weather, wear proper boots and allow plenty of daylight.
