Cleggan Harbour

Cleggan Harbour lies on the north-west Connemara coast at Trean, County Galway, and is the principal departure point for ferries to Inishbofin. Boats also run from here for local cruising and fishing, making the small pier busier than its size suggests.

The harbour sits in a sheltered inlet backed by low hills and bog, with fishing boats, moorings and wide Atlantic light. Even without taking a sailing it is a worthwhile stop on the road between Clifden and Letterfrack. Ferry timetables vary with the season and with weather at sea.
