Coney Island

Coney Island lies in Sligo Bay in County Sligo, a low, largely open island of fields, shore and grazing ground reached from the mainland across the strand at low tide, with the crossing marked by a line of pillars.

Bird life on the surrounding sands and shallows is the main draw for many visitors, along with the wide views back to Knocknarea and Rosses Point. The tides govern everything here: check them carefully and take local advice before crossing, and allow ample time to return.
