Connemara National Park

Connemara National Park covers around a corner of north-west County Galway at Letterfrack, taking in mountain, bog, heath and grassland, including several of the Twelve Bens.

A visitor centre introduces the landscape, its geology and its wildlife, and waymarked trails climb from the woodland near the entrance up Diamond Hill, where the reward is a view over the coast, the islands and the mountains inland. Red deer once roamed here, and Connemara ponies graze park land today. The walks range from short and easy to a proper hill climb, so most visitors find something to suit.
