Croagh Patrick

Croagh Patrick rises above Clew Bay at Teevenacroaghy, County Mayo, its distinctive conical peak visible for miles across the surrounding countryside. The mountain has been a place of pilgrimage for centuries and is strongly associated with Saint Patrick.

A chapel stands at the summit, reached by a steep and stony path that rewards walkers with wide views over the bay and its islands. The climb is demanding underfoot and weather on the mountain changes quickly, so proper footwear, layers and a check of conditions are essential before setting out.
