Profile
Errigal is the highest mountain in County Donegal, a distinctive quartzite peak in the north-west of the county whose pale scree slopes catch the light from miles away. It rises above the Derryveagh range and forms one of the defining landmarks of this part of Ireland.
The climb is popular with hillwalkers and offers extensive views over Donegal’s lakes, bogland and coast in clear weather. The route is steep and exposed in places, so proper boots, warm clothing and an eye on the forecast are essential.
