Farney Castle

Farney Castle sits near Holycross in County Tipperary, in the Suir valley not far from Thurles and the well-known Holycross Abbey. It is a round tower house of a type built across Ireland in the late medieval period, and it remains in use rather than standing as a ruin.

The castle is associated with design and craft work, with a studio and shop alongside the historic building. Visiting combines a look at the architecture with the chance to see Irish-made pieces, and the surrounding countryside is easy touring ground.
