Galtee Mountains

The Galtee Mountains rise on the southern edge of County Tipperary, reached from Cullenagh and the surrounding countryside. They form Ireland’s highest inland mountain range, running east to west along the Tipperary and Limerick border, with Galtymore the highest summit.

The range offers hillwalking of real substance, with corrie lakes tucked into the northern flanks and long views across the Golden Vale and the Glen of Aherlow. Upland birds and open moorland make it good ground for wildlife watching. Come prepared: weather on the tops changes quickly.
