Profile
The Gap of Dunloe is a narrow glacial mountain pass in County Kerry, running between the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks and Purple Mountain a short distance west of Killarney. A single winding road threads through it, past a chain of small lakes and streams beneath steep rock faces.
Walkers, cyclists and traditional pony-and-trap traffic all use the route, and many visitors combine the pass with a boat trip through the Killarney lakes. Weather changes quickly here, so come prepared for wind and rain.
