General Post Office

The General Post Office stands on O’Connell Street in Dublin, County Dublin, its granite portico and columns one of the most recognisable frontages in the city. It remains a working post office, so visitors can step into the public hall and see the building in everyday use.

The GPO is closely bound up with the events of the 1916 Easter Rising, when it served as the headquarters of the insurgents. Exhibition space within the building interprets that history alongside the wider story of the period.
