Profile
The gardens at Glenveagh Castle lie beneath Gartan Mountain in County Donegal, within Glenveagh National Park. Sheltered by woodland on the shore of Lough Veagh, they hold a surprising range of planting for such an exposed upland setting, with a walled garden, terraces and walks laid out around the castle.
The contrast between the cultivated gardens and the open moorland and mountains beyond is the pleasure of a visit. Refreshments are available in the grounds, and access is by the park’s shuttle bus or on foot from the visitor centre.
