Ha'penny Bridge

The Ha’penny Bridge is the cast-iron pedestrian crossing that arcs over the River Liffey in the heart of Dublin, linking the north quays with the lanes leading into Temple Bar. Its white-painted ironwork and lamps make it one of the most photographed structures in the city.

The name recalls the halfpenny toll once charged to cross. Today it costs nothing but a short walk, and it remains one of the simplest pleasures in Dublin: a pause mid-span to watch the river run east towards the sea.
