Profile
Inch Island lies in Lough Swilly in County Donegal, joined to the mainland by causeways that make it easy to reach by road. Despite the name, it is a quiet, largely agricultural place of low hills and shoreline rather than a remote offshore island.
The island and its surrounding waters are known for birdlife, especially wintering wildfowl on the lough, and there are traces of older buildings and defensive works in the landscape. It rewards an unhurried drive or walk with wide views across the lough towards Inishowen.
