Inis Fraoigh (Inishfree Island)

Inis Fraoigh, or Inishfree Island, lies off the Rosses coast of County Donegal, within the scatter of islands and inlets north of Burtonport. Inishfree Upper and Inishfree Lower give their names to the townlands facing the water.

The island is small, low-lying and lightly inhabited, with quiet shoreline, rock and grassland typical of this part of the Donegal coast. Access depends on local boat arrangements and the weather, so any visit needs planning; the islands are also a fine sight from the mainland shore.
