Kenmare Lace and Design Centre

The Kenmare Lace and Design Centre celebrates the needlepoint lace tradition that developed in the County Kerry town during the nineteenth century, when lace-making offered local women an income in difficult times.

The centre displays examples of the distinctive Kenmare lace, explains the techniques behind it and keeps the craft alive through demonstration and instruction. Located in the centre of Kenmare, it is a rewarding short visit for anyone interested in textiles, craft history or the social history of the region.
