Lough Corrib

Lough Corrib in County Galway is the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland, stretching north from Galway city towards Connemara and County Mayo.

It has an international reputation for angling, particularly wild brown trout and the mayfly season, along with pike and salmon on the connected waters. Boat hire, ghillies and lakeside accommodation are available at villages around the shore such as Oughterard and Cong. Beyond fishing, the lough offers cruising, birdwatching and island ruins.
