Mayo Dark Sky Park

Mayo Dark Sky Park covers a swathe of wild country around Ballycroy in County Mayo, within the bog, mountain and river landscape of the Wild Nephin area. With almost no artificial light for miles, it is among the darkest places in Ireland and one of the few designated dark sky parks in the country.

On a clear, moonless night the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye. Daytime brings blanket bog, upland walks and wildlife. Bring warm clothing, a red torch and patience, and check the forecast, as cloud cover decides everything.
