National Museum of Ireland - Natural History

The National Museum of Ireland – Natural History sits on Merrion Street in Dublin, beside Leinster House and the government buildings. Often called the Dead Zoo, it preserves a Victorian style of museum display, with cases of mounted specimens arranged on the floor and in the galleries above.

Irish mammals, birds, fish and insects fill the ground floor, while the upper level ranges across the animal kingdom worldwide. Admission is free. Children tend to take to it immediately, and the atmosphere of the old cabinet museum is much of the attraction.
