Old Dublin City Wall

At Lamb Alley in Dublin stands one of the surviving stretches of the old city wall, a fragment of the medieval defences that once enclosed Dublin.

The wall dates from the centuries when the city was a compact walled settlement above the Liffey, and only a handful of sections and gate sites remain visible today. It takes a few minutes to see, but it is a tangible link to Dublin’s medieval layout and sits within easy walking distance of Christ Church Cathedral and the Liberties.
