Old Irish Goat Visitor Centre

The Old Irish Goat Visitor Centre at Mulranny, County Mayo, tells the story of Ireland’s native landrace goat, a hardy long-haired breed that survived as a feral population on the hills above the village.

The centre covers the breed’s history, its role in the Irish countryside and the conservation work being done to protect it, and visitors can usually see goats from the herd at close quarters. It is a straightforward, family-friendly stop on the route between Newport and Achill, with a small shop, and sits close to the Great Western Greenway.
