Oscar Wilde

The Oscar Wilde monument stands in Merrion Square Park, County Dublin, facing the Georgian house on the square where the writer spent his childhood. The sculpture shows Wilde reclining on a large boulder, carved in coloured stone, with accompanying pillars bearing quotations from his work.

It has become one of Dublin’s favourite pieces of public sculpture and a fixed point on literary walks of the city. The surrounding park is free to enter and makes a pleasant stop between the National Gallery and the Georgian streets.
