Pepper's Pub

Pepper’s Pub stands at the entrance to the village of Feakle, in the hills of east County Clare. A traditional bar dating from 1810, it is widely described as the cultural centre of east Clare and is one of the county’s best-known pubs for traditional music. Live sessions run on most nights of the week, usually starting around half past eight, and musicians often gather in the corner named in honour of the late P. Joe Hayes of the Tulla Céilí Band, who kept a long-running session going here with his friend Francie Donnellan.

The pub is closely tied to the Feakle International Traditional Music Festival, held each August, when the village fills with players and listeners and Pepper’s sets up a large marquee that serves as a restaurant by day and a concert venue and céilí hall by night. Many well-known traditional musicians have performed here over the years, among them Martin Hayes, Liam O’Flynn, Matt Molloy, Sharon Shannon and Kevin Crawford.

Alongside the bar, Pepper’s serves home-cooked food throughout the day, with a menu of familiar Irish dishes, starters, mains and desserts. Whether you call in for a meal, a pint or an evening of tunes, it remains a fixture of the social and musical life of this part of the county.
