PGA National Ireland Slieve Russell

PGA National Ireland Slieve Russell is a championship golf course at the Slieve Russell Hotel Golf & Country Club near Ballyconnell in County Cavan. It carries the PGA National designation, awarded by the Professional Golfers’ Association, and forms part of a roughly 300-acre estate.

Designed by the Irish golf architect Patrick Merrigan, the 18-hole parkland course is routed through the drumlins and lakes that characterise the Cavan countryside. It plays to a par of 72 and measures in excess of 7,000 yards from the back tees. Alongside the championship layout, the resort runs the PGA National Academy, which includes a nine-hole par-three course, a driving range and practice areas.

The venue has hosted professional tournaments, most notably the North West of Ireland Open in 2000 and 2001 — an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the Challenge Tour — as well as the Irish PGA Championship. The wider resort offers dining and leisure facilities.
