Profile
Phoenix Park is a vast enclosed public park on the north-western side of Dublin, and one of the largest city parks in Europe. A herd of wild fallow deer has roamed its grassland for centuries and can often be seen grazing near the main avenues.
Within its walls are Dublin Zoo, the Papal Cross, the Wellington Testimonial, Áras an Uachtaráin and the Victorian People’s Flower Gardens. Entry is free, paths suit walking and cycling, and there is a visitor centre near Ashtown for background on the park’s history.
