Poolbeg Lighthouse

Poolbeg Lighthouse stands at the end of the Great South Wall in Dublin, its bright red tower marking the mouth of the Liffey where the river meets Dublin Bay. Reaching it means walking the long stone sea wall out into the bay, with water on both sides.

The walk is level but exposed, and the reward is a sweeping outlook back over the city, the port and across to Howth Head. Wrap up well against the wind, and check conditions before setting out in rough weather.
