Profile
Richmond Barracks in Inchicore, west Dublin, is a restored military barracks with a significant place in the story of the 1916 Rising. It was here that many of those arrested after the Rising were held and court-martialled before being moved on to prison or execution.
The site has been developed as a visitor attraction with exhibitions and guided tours interpreting that history, alongside the wider social history of the barracks and the surrounding community. It sits close to Kilmainham Gaol, and the two combine well in a single visit.
