Rothe House

Rothe House is a Tudor merchant’s townhouse complex on Parliament Street in Kilkenny City, County Kilkenny, built for the Rothe family and made up of houses arranged around enclosed courtyards. It is one of the best-preserved buildings of its kind in Ireland and a highlight of the city’s Medieval Mile.

Today it operates as a museum and is home to Kilkenny Archaeological Society, with a library and genealogy service used by people researching family roots in the county. Displays cover the house, its merchant owners and the wider history of Kilkenny.
