Samphire Island

Samphire Island sits beside the village of Fenit in County Kerry, on the shores of Tralee Bay. Reached from the shore near the harbour, it is a small, low-lying place of rock, grass and open water, with wide views across the bay towards the Slieve Mish mountains and the Dingle Peninsula beyond.

It suits a short walk, a spell of sea watching or a pause between boat trips and the nearby marina. Bring layers, as the Atlantic weather here changes quickly, and keep to the paths near the water’s edge.
