Sliabh Liag (Slieve League)

Sliabh Liag, or Slieve League, rises above the Atlantic in south-west County Donegal near Cappagh, and its sea cliffs are among the highest in Ireland and in Europe. Layers of quartzite and shale give the rock face its shifting bands of colour, best seen when low sun catches it from the water.

A viewing point above Teelin Bay lets visitors take in the cliffs without a long walk, while marked paths climb higher for those wanting more. Weather changes fast here, so boots, layers and care near the edge are sensible.
