Profile
St Michan’s Church sits on the north side of Dublin City, County Dublin, and is best known for the burial vaults beneath it. Conditions in the underground chambers have preserved a number of remains over long periods, and guided tours of the vaults are the main draw for visitors.
Above ground, the church itself is a long-established place of worship with an organ and interior of considerable age. Tours run at set times and places can be limited, so check the current schedule before arriving. The vaults are atmospheric rather than comfortable — dress accordingly.
