The Black Church

The Black Church stands in Dublin city, a former Church of Ireland building whose dark stonework gave it its enduring nickname. Deconsecrated long ago and no longer used for worship, it remains one of the more striking pieces of ecclesiastical architecture on the north side of the city, with tall pointed windows and a distinctive vaulted form.

It is best known today for the local legend that anyone who walks around it three times at midnight will meet the devil. Most visitors simply admire it from the street as part of a walking route through Georgian Dublin.
