The Blasket Centre - Ionad an Bhlascaoid

The Blasket Centre — Ionad an Bhlascaoid — stands at Dunquin on the western tip of the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, looking out towards the Blasket Islands themselves.

The centre tells the story of the island community that lived there until its evacuation in the 1950s, and of the remarkable body of Irish-language literature its people produced. Exhibitions cover daily life, language and the writers whose memoirs made the islands famous, making it a useful stop for anyone tracing island family connections. There is a café on site and the coastal setting alone repays the drive.
