Profile
The Donegal Gaeltacht is the Irish-speaking region of County Donegal, and Glencolmcille in the south-west of the county lies within it. This is a landscape of glens, sea cliffs and small farms running down to the Atlantic, with the language still in everyday use.
Visitors come for the walking, the coastal scenery and the chance to hear and learn Irish in a place where it is spoken naturally. Glencolmcille itself sits at the head of a valley opening onto the sea, with archaeological remains scattered across the surrounding hillsides.
