The Four Courts

The Four Courts stands on Inns Quay in Dublin City, County Dublin, its copper dome one of the most recognisable shapes on the River Liffey. The eighteenth-century building is the principal courts complex in Ireland and remains in daily use by the judiciary.

It was heavily damaged during the fighting of the early 1920s and subsequently rebuilt. As a working court, access to the interior is limited, but the riverside frontage is a landmark on any walk along the quays and a short distance from Smithfield and the Liberties.
