Profile
The Lakes of Killarney lie in County Kerry within Killarney National Park, with Lough Leane the largest of the three, joined by Muckross Lake and the Upper Lake. Woodland, mountains and open water make this one of the defining landscapes of the south-west.
The lakes are used for walking, boating and angling, with brown trout and salmon among the fish found in these waters. Boat trips run in season, and the shoreline is easily reached from Killarney town, Ross Castle and Muckross. Anglers should check current permit and licence requirements before fishing.
