The Newport Shepherds

The Newport Shepherds are based at Knockalegan in County Mayo, in the hill country of the north-west of the county where sheep farming has long shaped the landscape.

Visits centre on the working life of a Mayo sheep farm, with the chance to meet the animals, watch working dogs at their task and hear from the farmers about the seasons, the terrain and the skills involved. It is an outdoor, weather-dependent experience that appeals to families and to anyone interested in Irish agriculture and upland wildlife.
