Profile
The Old Barracks in Cahersiveen, County Kerry, is a striking former Royal Irish Constabulary building on the banks of the Fertha River, its turrets and steep roofs standing out sharply against the low streetscape of the town. It now serves as a heritage centre and exhibition space.
Displays explore the history of the barracks itself and of the wider Iveragh Peninsula, including local emigration, the Land War and the revolutionary period. It is a natural stop on the Ring of Kerry, close to the departure points for Valentia Island and the Skelligs.
