Profile
The WB Yeats Statue stands in Abbeyquarter North in Sligo town, honouring the poet whose work is bound up with this county’s lakes, hills and shoreline. The bronze figure is famously covered in flowing lines of his own poetry, so the text becomes the surface of the sculpture itself.
It is one of the best-known pieces of public art in the north-west and a natural place to begin a walk through Yeats country, which runs from Lough Gill out to Drumcliff beneath Benbulben.
