Wicklow Mountains National Park

Wicklow Mountains National Park covers a broad sweep of upland in County Wicklow, taking in mountain, blanket bog, heath, lake and native woodland. It is the largest of Ireland’s national parks and protects habitats and wildlife found across the granite uplands south of Dublin.

Glendalough, with its glacial valley, lakes and early monastic remains, is the best-known part of the park and has an information point and waymarked trails. Walking routes elsewhere range from short lakeside paths to long mountain days. Conditions change quickly on high ground, so proper clothing, footwear and a map are advisable.
