Wood Quay

Wood Quay sits on the south bank of the River Liffey in Dublin, County Dublin, on ground long associated with the city’s Viking-age origins. Excavations here uncovered one of the most significant early medieval urban sites in Europe, and the name remains shorthand for Dublin’s Norse beginnings.

Today the quay is home to Dublin City Council’s civic offices and an amphitheatre used for outdoor events, with the medieval city wall, Christ Church Cathedral and the Liberties all within a short walk. It makes a natural stop on any wander through the older heart of the capital.
