Profile
Aloha Surf School sits on Fanore Beach in County Clare, a sandy stretch on the Wild Atlantic Way within the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Geopark. The wide beach and its uncrowded waves make it a comfortable spot to learn, and the school has been teaching people to surf here since 2004.
The family-run school offers lessons for all ages and abilities, from adult beginner and improver sessions to classes for children and teenagers, family surf experiences, and private one-to-one or small-group tuition. Summer surf camps run through July and August, and board and wetsuit hire is available for those who already have some experience and want to head out on their own.
Instruction comes from qualified coaches, and the school places emphasis on small group sizes and personal coaching. Aloha has also been recognised for its approach to sustainable tourism, receiving an Emerald Award from the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Geopark.
Fanore is a quieter alternative to the better-known surf beaches further along the Clare coast, so it suits anyone looking to try surfing in a relaxed setting surrounded by the distinctive limestone landscape of the Burren.
